Stephen J. Grindel, DO is a board-certified family medicine physician, practicing in Wichita since 1990. Dr. Grindel completed his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. He completed an internship at Riverside Hospital in 1987. His residency was completed at the University of Kansas-Via Christi Family Medicine Residency in 1990. Dr. Grindel practices at Primary Care Associates. Prior to medical school, Dr. Grindel obtained is degree in Pharmacy. Teaching is also part of his professional activities and he currently is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the UKSM-W He has served on various committee within the leadership of MSSC throughout the years. Dr. Grindel served as Via Christi Regional Medical Centers medical staff president in 2001.
Outside the Office: When he isn’t seeing patients, Dr. Grindel and his wife, Michelle, hope to travel again after the pandemic. He enjoys reading, biking and watching his St. Louis Cardinals play.
MSSC Executive Director
Phillip Brownlee became the MSSC executive director in May 2017. He worked for 21 years at The Wichita Eagle, including 16 years as editorial page editor. During his tenure at The Eagle, Phillip and the editorial board won numerous journalism awards, including the Kansas Public Health Association service award. Phillip also worked previously as a certified public accountant in Dallas and as public information director. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Sterling College and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas.
